Race History:

Ferrari's 365 GTB/4 Daytona was finally homologated and accepted for Group 4 in 1972 even though Luigi Chinetti had given the potent and reliable Daytona its competition debut at Le Man in 1969. Ferrari never campaigned the cars under works colours, and the specially built competition Daytonas were looked after by the customer Assistenza depot beside the old Scuderia building in Modena's Viale Trento Trieste, and the cars were all to be run by private owners. Famous privateer teams synonymous with the Ferrari name; such as Luigi Chinetti NART, Ecurie Francorchamps, Charles Pozzi and Maranello Concessionaires campaigned the cars with great success, the Daytona remaining competitive in some of the greatest International sports car races from 1969 to 1979.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, chassis number: 16617 was re-built to Group 4 regulations in 2003. Based on a 1973 LHD Daytona . Ferrari Colmar modified the body and the mechanical preparation was done by RS Sport. The Group 4 engine was built by specialist Roger Salvatore and with forged alloy pistons, special camshafts and a carefully balanced crankshaft the engine produces 435 bhp at 7000 rpm.

The Weber carburettors are fitted with bigger jets and chokes and the Group 4 specification includes stainless steel exhaust headers and rear tubes made to the works exhaust system drawings. The airbox is in aluminium with a fibreglass air intake, a homologated six-point safety roll bar by Métal Technique is fitted along with a 100-litre safety fuel tank with quick fill neck. The car is fitted with an automatic fire-extinguisher system and is fitted with two 7-15’ and two 9-15’ wheels with grooved Dunlop Racing tyres. The clutch is reinforced and the transmission and back axle have been carefully checked with the axle being fitted with a limited-slip differential and a short final ratio.

Modifications to the suspension include stiffer springs and Koni dampers. The brakes have also been modified for better efficiency and the master cylinder is cooled by a special air scoop.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona 16617 was first raced in 2003 in the GTS 13 class in the 24 Heures de Magny-Cours where it won its class driven by Dominique Bardini, Robert Partouche and Eric Van de Vyver. Dominique Bardini, the well-known Ferrari dealer also won his class in the 24 Heures du Mans driving a Daytona in 1974. In 2004 running to Group 4 rules in the GTS 19 class the car won again at Magny-Cours and competed in the ‘V de V’ Endurance Championship and has also competed in the ‏Le Mans classic'

Today this reliable, efficient, high performance Ferrari is a highly competitive racing car in the right hands.and has just been through our own workshops for a safety check and comprehensive service and now is ready to race and is eligible for many of the best International speed.
