For over 10 years, Punch Lane has been regarded as Melbourne's leading wine bar set in the heart of the city's bustling theatre district.

The historic lane off Little Bourke Street that gives the restaurant its name was the centre of Melbourne's red light district in the late 1800s. The building was the city's original police station and over the years has housed the vice squad and ASIO.

Today, Punch Lane is uniquely Melbourne and has built a strong and enviable reputation for its intimate setting, unpretentious food, extensive wine list, bar culture and personable service.

Owners Martin Pirc and Martin Webb have over 50 years experience between them, working at some of the world's finest restaurants. They have a passion for keeping Punch Lane innovative, informed and at the forefront of Melbourne's food and drink scene.

Punch Lane's signature red chairs are perfect for relaxing in and enjoying a glass of wine from the extensive selection on offer. The cellar is well stocked with Australian classics, emerging gems from small producers and many beauties from New Zealand, France, Italy and Spain.

For theatregoers, the location for pre and post theatre suppers is a must. Punch Lane offers a charcuterie bar where superb cured meats and an impressive range of cheeses on offer all day and all night long.
