Profile
Melbournians have a soft spot for Chapel Street. While the rest of the city goes about its business, here is a place known for the good things in life- fashion, food, entertainment and style.
DISCOVER THE CHAPEL ST PRECINCT
Shopping
The Chapel Street Precinct is made for winter walking and can keep you occupied for hours, even days. Start your style discovery on the corner of Chapel Street and Toorak Road. Chapel Street runs south for almost 2 km, some describing it as arguably the world's longest catwalk. This precinct has inspired a large number of stunning young designers to international acclaim and is home to Melbourne's cutting edge fashion and designer gift wear stores, much loved by super-models and celebrities. Stroll up and down Chapel Street, and trawl through the side streets of Windsor and Commercial Road and Greville Street in Prahran to see the funkiest designers while perusing the eclectic mix of retailers and minimalist boutiques.
Food
Even the most experienced fashionista requires sustenance and in winter food lovers can enjoy renowned dining at over 100 Chapel Street Precinct restaurants, cafés, bistros and bars representing diverse cuisines. There is no better place to absorb all the energy and boldness that the precinct has to offer than over a gourmet meal stretching throughout the afternoon, or a quick snack or sidewalk coffee while you watch the world go by.
If you have been seduced and left inspired by Chapel Street Precincts culinary offerings, you can also take something delicious home with you from the Prahran Market on Commercial Road. Shopping at Prahran Market is an experience in itself, reminiscent of the traditional produce markets of Europe.
Entertainment
When the sun sinks, and other parts of Melbourne are wrapped up and hibernating for the night, the Chapel Street Precinct transformation begins. If you are looking for a refreshing alternative for a night to step out on the town you've found it. A variety of dance clubs, theatre, movies at the Jam Factory, pubs, bars, live entertainment and family fun are all on the menu.
Chapel Street Precinct, Melbourne's premier shopping, dining, and entertainment district is open seven days a week, including late Fridays and Sunday afternoon.
Getting around
Trams 6, 8, 72, 78 and 79 are a quick and easy way to get to the Chapel Street Precinct. Trams leave from Swanston Walk in the City and operate from 5:30am to 12:00 midnight.
With so much dining, shopping and nightly entertainment, don't limit yourself to just one day. Spend a weekend in the Chapel Street Precinct and indulge in all it has to offer.
