Brothers in pianos Kim Young and Kim Chang joined together in the 1950s to establish their piano brand. Young Chang evolved with one of the well known Japanese manufacturer investing in the factory in the 1960s and helping with the design and construction techniques still used today in their pianos.

The current Patinum Series Young Chang pianos incorporate piano actions developed by Pramburger who previously was a designer for Germanys famous Steinway and Sons.
