Capt Ross Finlayson is a recognised leader in the parade of top marlin and sportfishing captains within Australia, with more than 17 years gamefishing experience along the East Coast of Australia and international experience crewing on top gameboats in both Hawaii and Mozambique. Other favourite international fishing destinations include Costa Rica and New Zealand.

Ross is a protogee of the now retired, legendary marlin skipper, Capt Laurie Woodbridge and crewed for Laurie for 7 years on the Sea Baby IV before taking over the helm 4 years ago. The experience through working with one of the world's greatest captains, together with his passion for fishing and consistent results produced for anglers from all over the world, has enabled Ross to establish one of the most experienced and professional all round game fishing operations within Australia.

MARLIN FISHING
From September through to December, the largest black marlin in the world - many of them "granders" of over a thousand pounds, migrate to the 150 mile stretch of the Great Barrier Reef. This is unquestionably the best giant marlin location in the world, and if you are a serious big game angler, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

The reality is that Cairns is by far the best place in the world to catch a grander. There are more caught or tagged on the GBR than in the rest of the world combined and in a hot fishing week you can encounter a bite a day from an 800lb PLUS fish.

FLY FISHING
Fly fishing is one of the biggest challenges left on the bluewater and is certainly one of the fastest growing facets of saltwater fishing and a favourite of Ross and his crews. The world record opportunities are excellent on the Great Barrier Reef during the winter to spring months (May to November) using 8 to 16 weight tackle.

SPORT AND GAME FISHING
The bluewater sportfishing off Cairns is generally excellent year round, providing great action and good eating!!


THE SEABABY IV
Built in 1990 and fully refitted throughout in 2002, this state of the art game boat is without a doubt one of Australia's most internationally renowned.

At 44' in length she was designed for fishing performance first and foremost and features one of the best game fishing designs in Cairns with open plan style saloon area which enables you to be out of the sun and weather yet still be close to the action. The cockpit is extra large and uncluttered and its hull design gives you great performance at sea, with excellent stability.

Fully equipped with the latest in electronics and navigational equipment, her spacious open plan airconditioned accommodation comfortably caters to a maximum 4 anglers on extended periods.

This world class game boat is perfectly set up for accommodating up o 4 anglers in comfort on liveaboard extended marlin charters or alternatively for even more comfort and room whilst at sea you can charter a mothership in conjunction with the Sea Baby.

The motherships provide stateroom accommodation and chef prepared meals and are an excellent option if your intention is to weigh a big fish.
