The Dutton family have had a love affair with rare, exotic and interesting automobiles since 1911, when Albert Octavious Dutton, began creating the coachwork for vehicles such as Rolls Royce, Hispano, Isotta Franchini and others.

As the Dutton reputation grew so did the families involvement with other legendary makes; Porsche, Lancia, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Citroen. In the late 1950's and early 1960's Duttons were the official Porsche repairers for Melbourne, while in the late 1960's they also became Melbourne's Citroen dealers which spanned over 20 years.

Supporting their love of fine cars, the Dutton showroom has become an internationally known Mecca for car enthusiasts, being the choice for those seeking quality used Porsches, Ferraris and other special vehicles.

Gay Dutton is one of Australia's leading Motorsport artists, and is in heavy demand with commissions over the years for various motoring events such as the Australian Grand Prix, CAMS 40th Anniversary painting and sought by a number of private collections including Barry Batagol, Jamie Bartels, Sir Rupert Steele, and Ashley Murdoch.

At the end of 2004 Dutton Sporting Cars closed their Iconic Showroom in Church St, Richmond, moving to a new luxury showroom just opened in South Yarra.
