Profile
Just to put you in the picture I will give you a little background into how the Kingfisher has evolved. This range of cruisers has been designed from scratch using naval architect, and of course, with a lot of input from the developers John Vella and his son in law Per Andresen. Per is a very clever Norwegian ship right with a wealth of knowledge. John is a successful, retired registered builder who has had vast boating experience from owning many big power cruisers. This boat is not a copy and it's not another boat modified. It's all new and it performs just how it's designers planned. Every boat is built to a survey lay-up standard.
The first "Sports Flybridge" came off the assembly line over 4 years ago. Even the 48 was huge in proportions as was displayed when moored beside a another brand of popular Australian Flybridge. Our Kingfisher was clearly longer, wider, and higher at the gunnels. About 1-2 foot bigger in each case. The real difference can be seen when comparing internal room, both width and headroom is substantially larger! Whilst the 48's perform brilliantly we were receiving constructive comments from prospective buyers who wanted changes.
Hence the new "50 Sports Flybridge" was conceived. Under way the Kingfisher does not sit deep in the stern, as do many other competitors. This nose high ride not only affects vision and ride but also consumes horsepower and fuel. Listening to potential customers we felt the need to increase the saloon size at the same time giving the boat a more raked windscreen similar to the latest European cruisers. The new versions now have the base of the windscreen forward a further 1.5 metres and several other design improvements. This has added greatly to the interior room and given the boat outstanding modern looks. The 50 now has a molded staircase as standard, so no more climbing a dangerous ladder to access the flybridge.
Within months of launching the new 50 we were into producing our latest release the "56 Aft Cabin" This luxury cruiser has a huge aft cabin and a large integrated boarding platform. Our demo 56 returns speeds around 29knots with a pair of 610hp Volvos and cruisers at over 20knots at a low 1700rpm proving very economical. For a boat this huge and weighing 21tonnes to achieve this performance is remarkable and a credit to the designers.
We are now working on our next release. A European style "57 Sports" with a extra long flybridge deck and a transom jet ski garage or crew cabin. We have already produced a scale model of this new "Sports Euro" and will be starting on the moldings very soon.
New 10 Acre Factory Site. With sales going strong and a bigger range of models we needed more room. In 2001 Kingfisher purchased 10 Acres of commercial land at Yatala. As at March 2002 the new factory is well underway. The first stage is due to be completed in June/July 2002. This new factory will allow us to grow our business and help reduce our order lead time. The factory will be open to prospective buyers who wish to see the quality construction of our Kingfisher Royale Cruisers, just give us a call on 0411 724 176 to arrange a tour.
