The Bruce Lynton Group originated in 1974 with Bruce Lynton securing Queensland's second BMW franchise.

The dealership was opened in Nerang Street, Southport where it still stands today. In April 2004, The Bruce Lynton Group celebrated 30 years of trading.

Since its opening Bruce Lynton has been synonymous with quality, prestige and service, offering customers the opportunity to become part of the Bruce Lynton "family" of valued customers.

For 12 years following the opening of the Nerang Street dealership, Bruce Lynton sold a variety of prestige automotive brands including Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Fiat, Lancia and Renault. In 1988, BMW Australia's growth saw a new direction in "stand alone" dealerships and Bruce Lynton became one such dealership.

A new showroom was built on the Nerang Street site to accommodate the new direction for Bruce Lynton and in 1991 a new Service Department facility was added.

In 1998, Bruce Lynton acquired adjoining sites, and once again the Nerang Street dealership expanded, this time adding another 390 square metres. The expansion created a distinct Approved Used BMW area, a bigger new car showroom and a better appointed dealership, increasing the quality of service offered to BMW customers.

October 2003 heralded a new era for The Bruce Lynton Group, with the change-over of Dealer Principalship from Bruce Lynton to son Beric Lynton being officially announced. After 29 years of service to the BMW brand, Mr Bruce Lynton passed his reign onto his son Beric. As Bruce was the longest serving Dealer Principal of the BMW brand in Australia, Beric has now become the youngest, despite having already worked in the business for over 16 years.

On numerous occasions, Bruce Lynton has been the recipient of prestigious awards, both local and within the greater BMW Company.

The Bruce Lynton Group strives to recognise and support the Gold Coast community in which we work and live. As part of that pledge, Bruce Lynton sponsors and participates each year in many programs held to benefit people in the Gold Coast region. On June 17, 2006 the 6th Annual Bruce Lynton Charity Ball was held at Royal Pines Resort. Over $220,000 was raised and shared between Bruce Lynton's three nominated charities; Queensland Cancer Fund, Queensland Surf Lifesaving and Guide Dogs Queensland.

2006 saw a new era for the Bruce Lynton Group with the opening of the new Premium Selection Used BMW Dealership at 80 High Street, Southport. This was capped off with the launch of the new Bruce Lynton stand-alone MINI Showroom opened in August 2006 next door to the Premium Selection dealership.

2006 also saw the BMW 3 Series Sedan voted ‏World Car of the Year' in April by an independent panel of judges at the New York motor show. The BMW 3 Series was praised for setting the benchmark in its class.

MINI also had a big year in 2006 with many accolades and awards. For the second time Bruce Lynton team won the MINI World Challenge, scoring almost 100% in the product knowledge category. The team, in recognition for their achievement, travelled to Amsterdam and Vienna in June 2006.

Bruce Lynton MINI Garage was also announced winner of the 2006 MINI Excellence Awards. This is considered the highest accolade for a MINI Dealership in Australia.

2007 promises to be a landmark year for the Bruce Lynton Group, Bruce Lynton BMW, Bruce Lynton MINI Garage and BMW Group Australia.

2007 has already started off with a bang with Bruce Lynton sponsoring the Mondial Australian Womens Tennis Hardcourt Championships and the Magic Millions Carnival. BMW also joined forces with Magic Millions in 2007 to become the official car of Magic Millions. As the Gold Coast local dealer Bruce Lynton represents BMW at all of the events associated with the 19 day Gold Coast Carnival and affiliated events throughout the year.

To kick off a year of highly anticipated launches, the new MINI Hardtop launch will be held in March 2007.

Also being launched in 2007 is the new BMW 3 Series Retractable Hardtop Convertible. This new addition to the ever popular BMW 3 Series range arrives in late March just in time for a perfect Gold Coast Summer. Enquiry has been high due to the models variants, with the car coming in 325i and the new twin turbo 335i.

The launch of the acclaimed new BMW X5 is here in April and the first owners can't wait to take delivery. The new X5 will be launched initially with two engine variants - a 3 litre, six cylinder diesel and a 4.8 litre V8 petrol. Later in the year it will be available in a 3 litre petrol.

On a national level we welcome the new BMW Australia Managing Director, Mr Guenther Seemann. Previously the Managing Director of the Middle East BMW Group, Guenther is taking over from Dr Franz Sauter, on February 14th, who is moving back to Munich and will take on the role of Quality Management and Customer Care worldwide located in the BMW Group Sales division.
